Why are evaluations held?
Little League player evaluations are important because they help ensure that players are placed in the right division for their age and skill level, which can lead to more success and a better experience for the player. It is important to keep in mind that it is important for the player to have the most positive experience possible. Players who move up to quickly are often not prepared to meet the demands of play found in an upper division. We want them to learn and enjoy the game at a pace that works for them. Players are evaluated in groups organized by league age. Players have been placed in the appropriate age division during the registration process. However, it is important to note that the league age of the player and the evaluations will determine the appropriate age division. The final decision for placement is at the sole discretion of the league officials.
Evaluations are not tryouts. During evaluations, players participate in drills and are assessed on skills like running, throwing, fielding, hitting, and speed. Evaluators also consider previous coaching feedback and the player's age. The combined data is then used to create teams for the upcoming season.
Arrival:
Players should arrive ½ hour prior to the schedule evaluation time.
What do the players need to bring to evaluation?
Appropriate clothing to include baseball pants, cleats or athletic shoes, baseball hat, baseball glove, size appropriate USA approved baseball bat and plenty of WATER!
Skills subject to evaluation:
The division coaches will be on the field to observe the players as they demonstrate skills. Coaches will receive a list of players for their division's age group.
